I am cooking my husband a wonderful dinner tonight with steak and mashed potatoes and I am trying to pick out a wine to go with our dinner tonight. What is a good white wine that my husband might like because he isn’t very big on wines and I don’t like red wines.

Pinot Grigio would be a good white selection. Robert Mondavi makes a good one for about 15 dollars.
Try out Moscato d’Asti.
Try a white Zinfandel
If you two aren’t that big on wine, why don’t you just pour some beer into a wine glass? It’s your day, do something you like instead of what you think you are supposed to do. Honestly white wine is bad with steak.
I like the White from Chatu St Michelle
good and cheap, I mostly like the Blac
For a rich meal like that, I’d recommend a big, fruity, buttery, toasty California Chardonnay.
Alternatively, the Catena Chardonnay from Argentina is always a good option. It’s normally too toasty for my taste, but with the steak could be great. At $20 a great value.
Gabbiano pinot grigio is a good but affordable choice.
A cheaper choice that is surprisingly good is Banrock Station chardonnay. but if its a special meal, go with a surer thing like the gabbiano
I’d go with a sauvignon blanc myself. That actually does pair well with steak and is crisp and clean enough to balance the heaviness of the steak and potatoes. There are no wine rules anymore, it’s drink what you like.
The article below gives wines with red meat, but they are usually red wines. It does recommend Reisling (white wine) with steak.
Sorry. There is NO white wine that goes with steak and potatos. None!!!!!!!! Zero!!!!!!!! Nada!!!!!!!
However, you might have a Champagne as a pre-dinner aperitif.
I am not a red wine drinker either, so I like to have a Reisling which is a white wine. You might also try a blush wine like Lambrusco, they are usually lighter in taste than a red wine.
Try Caneii it is a white sparkling wine it is sweet so maybe it will be good for someone who isn’t really into wine. As far as Red wine you should try Riunite Lambrusco it is a sweet wine and goes with red meat
With steak you would need a heavier white like a chardonnay. A nice California Chardonnay would do nicely and can be readily found locally for your meal tonight. Ask the clerk for a nice Chardonnay that is not overly oaky and you both will be delighted with the pairing.
Cheers to a lovely evening.
It would definantly have to be a Riesling. Those are my favorite. A good and cheap one is the Kendall Jackson Riesling Wine. It’s not too dry and not too sweet. It’s a definantly a safe wine.
Kendal Jackson chardonnay or Sabastiani chardonnay.
I would suggest at least a Pinot Grigio or a Chardonnay. The chardonnay may be a little overpowering for the mashed potatoes, but the butteriness and oakiness of chardonnay typically compliments steaks very nicely. Make sure whatever you get, it is served cold.
I know you said white…but I’d consider trying a fruity red wine such as Rosenblum Cuvee Zinfandel which goes for around $10 a bottle. Even though its red, it is definitely not dry and you might really enjoy it.
If you really want a white, try a Pinot Grigio as suggested by others.
Steak. Mashed spuds. Sound good. Why spoil it with a lesser wine? Go for a “Beaujolais” style red, and expand both your palates.
Cheap, easy to love. Beware, it may lead you to an ongoing affair with increasingly “big” and expensive wines.
