Pinkadot asked: Mushroom Chicken:
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 pkg. dry chicken gravy mix
1 sm can cream of mushroom or chicken soup
(1 cup white wine)
8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
Going in crock pot, I just don’t want to use the wine…what else would substitute for that?

You can substitute anything you want for the wine. Milk, or even water would work. The wine is only for flavoring. Go ahead and replace it with something else.

just use water it will still have good flavor because of the gravy mix and soup
the wine just adds an essence you can’t really get with anything else

Chicken broth is a good substitute for white wine.
FYI, when wine reduces, such as in this recipe, the alcohol evaporates. You end up with a great flavor.

Apple juice is the best because is sweet. Don’t put anything that is salty. Most recipes that ask for white wine say “or apple juice”.

Chicken broth or apple juice are the usual substitutes. Apple juice does give an amazing flavor.

Go for a good quality chicken stock.

If you’re trying to not use alcohol, I sugest rice vinegar, or white grape juice. IF you want to use alcohol, but not wine, try using
vodka.

To be honest I think you really don’t need to worry about omitting the wine and I would just add water instead. It looks like it is needed to combine the dry gravy mix with the two thicker ingredients of cream cheese and the creamed soups.

Water or chicken broth are common replacements for white wine.
