I have been a consultant with this company going on 4 years and have had a great experience. Men and women are excited about tasting wines in the comfort of home and learning a little too at the same time. Plus our wines are 30-50% less than what they are in stores and our shipping is the lowest in the industry! We do not charge for the parties and the host even gets fantastic discounts and free shipping for up to 9 months! We are a DSA company and our parent company is 21 years old so it is a reputable and lucretive business. Best of luck to you and I hope you will join--you won't regret it! Even if for some reason you don't, you get 1 year to get your money back for the starter kit (which you can get a full reimbursement for in the first place by the way :)
Cheers! Kiersten

Your friends will probably attend, but I personally can't stand these "buy stuff" parties.

At least it's better than candles, but I doubt that I'd find anything worth buying. It's generally odd labels that tend to be overpriced.

When you say joining I suspect you will not be an employee being paid for your sales expertise but rather you will be expected to invest your money on your own inventory of wine, or wines. In which you will be offered training on speaking & salesmanship. If you are already a proven sales or marketing person you have a chance here.
Sounds very much like pyramid sales and you must be very wary. They pop up every few years or so.
Why don't you go to a few of these parties first and see what goes on. Of course, everyone is expected to buy something.
Now though, where I live there is zero tolerance on drinking & driving & not everyone will be bringing a designated driver.
Recognized vinters do not sponsor these parties. They don't need to. The liquor & wine stores are full of wines.
I wouldn't go for tasting due to the driving situation but I might go for the fun. Since I wouldn't be tasting I wouldn't be buying. I gave up these Tupperware, soap, jewellery, make up, candle and glassware parties some time ago. I didn't want the stuff & I didn't need it. I think when friends expect you to do this it's an imposition on your friendship. I made no excuses, I simply said no thank you.
