I am trying to diet, but I was wondering what is less harmful to my diet, red wine or white wine?

  3. mel Says:

all wines have alcohol (the culprit) the color makes no difference.

White…even better if you have it as a Spritzer (wine and soda)

Red is better for you all around because it is so high in antioxidants and those other things – flavenols? It is better for you and I think the calorie counts are the same.

  7. Kelly B Says:

A glass of red is great. Just one, with your meal. There are a lot of anti-oxidants in wine and flavenoids, which are good for you, so go ahead an enjoy. Only one ;)

It’s not the color, it’s the kind.

I mean, if you prefer the fruity, after dinner dessert wines, then those are high in sugar.

But, alcohol converts into sugar, so if you are serious about your diet, then you need to give up the booze.

You’re generally safe with a Merlot or a Chardonnay. Avoid all Blancs, Zinfendales and Reislings.

Red wine is healthier for your heart. I don’t know what brand is healthiest, so I suggest having a smaller wine glass – then it appears full, but it’s a smaller portion over all.

Restriction but not denying the wine intake is the key. If you deny yourself, you’ll want it even more and are more likely to binge.

The same goes for your food – use a smaller plate when serving.

    Good luck.

either one would be fine, but don’t drink too much, like 2-4 ounches if you don’t know how much that is, just enough for 3-6 gulps.

wine is pretty good for dieting, but of course not too much because it’s made with grapes.

    good luck

Wine can actually help a diet. Well…according to Womens Health.com.

Go with white. It has somewhere around 120 calories a glass. Much better than beer!
