Wine Tasting?

A question asked by Kami: Wine Tasting?
I work for a promotional agency right now doing different types of promos but lately, I’ve been getting a lot of jobs to conduct wine tastings. I’ve grown to enjoy it too and was wondering what it would be like to work at an actual winery.

Does anyone have any experience to share?
Okay, I already know what skills you need to qualify as I already conduct tastings around my state.

-so wine tours sounds nice…

Anyone have anything to add about benefits or perks?

Question by Loving Kitty: My revised Vampire love poem? Any other tips?
Torn

He gazes at the pure white mist,
Everything is glowing, moon kissed,
The land sings the moon’s lovely croon,
Mysterious, alluring tune.

This black and white night has begun,
What I will do, can’t be undone,
Tonight, on his life, I will dine,
I’ll fill myself with fine red wine.

My heart and mind are torn between,
His blood and he who calls me queen,
Can I not want what could be mine?
I long for us to intertwine.

The potent rhythm of his pulse,
Should I deny this strong impulse,
To touch my lips to his soft skin
at burning dip under his chin.

A kiss, I know it is not smart,
I love the beating of his heart,
Shoud it stop with a sharp bite?
Stop our loves angelic delight?

No. I just cannot let him die,
Our love should be allowed fly.
I can ignore his lovely taste,
A love like this can’t go to waste.

is my essay good? any tips?

Question posed by Renayy92: is my essay good? any tips?
is this good or bad???
“The media controls our lives”. This statement goes around the world having people wonder if it’s true or false. There are millions of different influences haunting
Every one of us to do certain things, act certain ways and to buy certain clothes.
Although some people don’t give in to the television advertisements, we all give in to fashion. I mean, who is going to walk down the street in something that nobody likes?
Then again, who is going to want to walk down the street looking bigger than the average weight because they’re afraid of being called fat?
Most girls and some guys want to fit in, which is where modelling comes in.
Companies hire so many beautiful young girls to walk down a runway and show of the latest trends, but what they don’t realise is how much of an impact it is putting on the teenagers who want to be pretty and popular
The media portrays celebrities and models all in the same way. They make them seem flawless and beautiful, skinny and tanned. Every picture is air brushed yet, normal people want to be exactly like what they see in the magazines. Girls everywhere strive to be what is impossible-they go to extremes to try to look like that girl on the cover of the magazine which leads to eating disorders, extreme diets and can cause diseases such as bulimia and anorexia.
Girls who are heavier, taller, have acne or a big nose should still be happy with the way they are-however modelling puts them in a position where they feel they are not good enough, and need to change for everyone, which is wrong.
Now, not only is the media causing things like anorexia and bulimia but it is also causing obesity.
The fast food restaurant McDonald’s is not only causing obesity but also wrecking lives. Obesity is a disease which stems from eating fatty foods. This disease can affect anyone. People are dying from this disease everyday, and more and more people are gaining large amounts of weight each year. People who have a love for junk food are constantly being targeted along with children because of the television advertisements and the toys that are given away along with the happy meal at McDonald’s.
They usually target the children with these toys by putting them all over TV and hoping that the kids whinge and wine until their parents take them out to buy this little plastic figurine They work it all out to bring more customers in to eat this food to make more money because in the end, they don’t care how healthy we are. They just care about how much money they are going to make from us.
Everyone knows of this restaurant and if not then you’re considered a freak. Everyone loves this restaurant and once again, if you don’t, you’re considered a freak. People who buy McDonald’s at least once a week gain weight but they still go back to eating it because some say “the taste is irresistible”
This amount of evidence would point out that it’s obvious what the media is actually doing to this world. It’s wrecking our lives, putting people in positions where they need serious help to get out of.

I need a conclusion.. any ideas?

To pop a champagne bottle without making a mess you need some skill or just a little patience. In this article we’re going to discuss about opening a bottle of champagne step by step regardless of the champagne brands or how expensive it is. If you are doing this for the first time it’s safer to practice with a smaller bottle (200 ml), yet learning to open a standard bottle should be your priority.

It’s OK to pick a regular (750 ml) bottle of champagne if you can’t find a smaller one. The first thing you should do is to make sure the bottle is cooled down. Use an ice bucket and put your bottle inside it for 20 mins. You can put it in the refrigerator too. Chilled champagne is much more tasty and the pressure level is lower, preventing a waste when you pop it. The perfect temperature is 5 – 8 degrees C (45 F).

As soon as the bottle is chilled, take a towel and clean the surface. A dry bottle is easier to handle. Next, rip the plastic foil and don’t shake the bottle too much. You don’t know how much the bottle was stirred before you bought it so you don’t want any extra pressure building up. Remove the wire cage and hold a solid grip on the bottle while keeping your thumb on the cork to avoid an accidental pop. However, most of the times, it will not pop by itself but you have to be prepared.

Cover the champagne bottle with a towel, and incline the bottle at an angle pointing it away from people and objects. Now, with your main hand easily turn the cork while holding the bottle tight with your left hand. You can also twist the bottle while griping the cork. You should hear a pop shortly yet, sometimes the cork will remain stuck. Try a little harder and if it doesn’t work, go ahead and shake the bottle a bit and then try again. In the end you’ll open it, but usually it won’t be necessary to agitate it. Never use a corkscrew. Once you hear the pop, take off the towel and start pouring it. Pour just a little bit and the sparkle will fill up the glass. When the foam is gone, pour some more.

This is the universal step-by-step method that works with each kind of champagne, indifferent of how expensive it is. Usually if it’s more expensive, there will be less chances for accidents, while cheap champagne brands could have a thinner glass or weaker wire cage.

Find more tips on champagne and learn more on your favorite champagne brands.

A question asked by spiderman???: How does temperature affect the taste of food and drink?
For example, white wine, tap water, Cointreau, lager and even chocolate taste much better cold. On the other hand, tea, coffee and brandy, as well as most cooked meals, taste much better warm or hot. English beer and red wine are better at room or cellar temperature. Why?

Most detailed answer:

Answer by Andrew D
When food is hot you taste more of the food’s flavor. This is because the food “moves around” more. The reason that some food tastes better cold is because you taste it less.

Why Wine Appraisal Is Not An Easy Job

The process of evaluating the value of wine is called wine evaluation, more commonly referred to as wine appraisal. Though to some, it might come off as a simple job of tasting and sniffing wine, it is actually more complicated than that. Without the know-how of wine experts, there would be no way to distinguish good wine from bad.

Reviews for wines in magazines are not very trustworthy. They usually do not come from a panel of experts but from novice wine tasters. A novice will have erratic opinions of the same wine finding it delicious today and then a year from now have a totally different opinion of it.

Wine experts, on the other hand, follow a strict and formal procedure when evaluating a wine. They hold numerous taste testing and have long discussions on its merits and qualities.

After long and objective discussions, the wine experts arrive at a decision. Their opinion is highly regarded as they are experienced and qualified individuals who have studied in the area of viticulture.

Wine appraisers are also in high demand by wine collectors. Wine lovers who want to know the current market value of their wine collection hire the services of wine experts to appraise their bottles.

Investors interested in acquiring a vineyard rely on wine appraisers to tell them whether it is a wise choice of investment.

The price of a bottle of wine is actually determined by the opinion of a wine expert. Certainly, the more aged the wine, the better its quality and wine experts can tell which wines are aged and which aren’t.

Those interested in the wine business should make sure to have a reliable wine expert at hand. Without the blessing from a wine expert, a bottle of wine is just not the same.

Besides wine appraisal, this author additionally regularly writes on the digital food thermometer and instant read thermometer.

Wine Tasting…=)?

Question posed by Mandy24: Wine Tasting…=)?
I love wine…. And tonight is going to be my first time wine tasting (Going on a date) =) Is there anything I should know…… Bring.. etc…. Or just tell me about your experiences. …. Thnx…….

Top answer:

Answer by sprite
You don’t need to bring anything, but, first off, watch what other people do. Do they drink the wine or just taste it and spit it out? You want to do what they are doing. If you don’t like the wine, just swallow it and smile. Don’t chug, sip! Smell the wine first. And don’t try to be fancy and make up words to describe the taste, because really, there are technical terms for certain wines, and you’ll sound kinda dumb if you say the wrong thing.
