Orange County Custom Wine Cellar Project – Customer Satisfaction Delivered A client in Orange County, California sought the help of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars because she needed a wine storage within her home. The client expressed how it has been so inconvenient for her to travel 20 miles to her wine storage. Every time she hosted parties and attended wine dinners, she was forced to use only the available wine in her house.

It was Coastal’s objective to build a custom wine cellar that had class. The client had many friends who had good taste in wine. She wanted to make sure that her wine cellar would be able to preserve the quality of stored wines so that she can create a great experience for them when she hosts wine parties. One challenge in this project is the limitation of the client’s budget. Coastal determined to use an affordable yet long lasting material to meet this challenge.

Another challenge present in this project was limited space. The client needed a wine cellar that will be able to store her collection of over 2000 wine bottles. This challenge was met by Coastal by designing wine racks that maximized space.

The client had a wide collection of bottles with different sizes including champagne bottles and Pax Syrah. Another challenge in this project was to create a custom wine cellar that could store all the bottles in this collection in standard racking. Coastal met this challenge by designing the wine racks with large sized bottle openings.

Affordable and Durable Material Used – Premium Redwood In the many years of building custom wine cellars, Coastal has gained expertise in their craft as evidenced by producing wine cellar designs that are not only elegant but also durable. In order to provide the Orange County client a wine cellar that was classy without going beyond her budget, Coastal utilized quality redwood. This wood is very affordable and has proven durability. Also, in order to further make the wood long lasting, Coastal coated it with lacquer to protect it from spills. Furthermore, this type of wood has a distinct deep red color that brings elegance to the whole cellar. The result was undeniably impressive.

Large Sized Bottle Openings Feature One of the best features in this custom wine cellar is the large sized bottle openings in the wine racks. The client loved these 3 X 3 inches wine bottle opening because they were able to hold all of her wine bottles regardless of size. In fact, the size of these openings is able to hold any wine bottle in the market from the standard sized to the 3L to 6L types. The client expressed how she was glad that the bottles that she would normally keep in the champagne area can now be stored in standard wine bottle racking.

Maximized Space – Double Storage Feature In one of the wine cellar walls, Coastal incorporated a double storage feature. In this feature, the client had increased wine storage without taking up extra square footage. She was able to put in one wine bottle in a rack and then add another sliding the first into the back. This dealt with the problem about limited space.

High Reveal Display Row Coastal incorporated a row in the wine cellar that tilted wine bottles on a 15 degree angle 40 inches above the finish floor. This row allowed the client to manage her wines efficiently because she can store like wines above and below the display area. This custom feature brought character to the whole wine cellar room and allowed the collector to showcase her favorite wine bottle labels.

LED Lighting – Elegant and Affordable Lighting is a great factor to an elegant ambiance. For this Orange County project, Coastal created beautiful lighting using Light-emitting diode (LED) ribbon lights across the display row. LED lighting is well known for being budget friendly because it has very minimal power consumption as compared to a regular light bulb. Also, the fact that this lighting lasts long, the client will be able to save more in the long run.

Coastal’s Invaluable Passion For 10 years of experience in the wine cellar industry, Coastal has never failed to grow in expertise and provide quality service to all their customers. Coastal’s secret to success is the passion that the management has for every project handled. They go beyond the goal of merely making money to truly loving their craft. Jerry Wilson, the founder of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, has truly molded this company based on this genuine love for wine and wine related products.

This custom wine cellar project in Orange County, CA is another proof of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars’ expertise in their craft. It’s really worthwhile to invest passion in every work. What is the best tasting wine?

Question by Tamera C: What is the best tasting wine?
I would rather not have the “wine” taste at all. I just don’t like the taste of it but I have had some nice fruity tasting wines before but do not remember what they are called. And I don’t want to pay too much either.

A question from Bertha G: how can I understand wine and food pairings better?
At restaurants, it’s usually easy cause you just ask what goes well with the food you want and they tell you and it almost always tastes great.

But every time i try to pair food and wine at home I mess it up horribly and they never taste good together. I’ll usually start with a bottle of wine and then research it a bit online to see what other people have paired it with and what typically goes with it and then I create a dish (or dishes) based off of those things. Every time the food usually comes out great, and the wine is great, but they don’t go together. I’ve tried a variety of wines with lots of different food pairings but without much luck. The best I can get is something simple, like wine and cheese, but I can never get the whole meal to go.

I have no idea what I’m doing wrong and I’m tired of making food that never matches the wine. Any help?

Don’t fret and don’t listen to the experts. There are no experts here. It is really a matter of taste.

A question asked by two_design_kitties: What to wear to a date for a movie & dinner/wine tasting?
I’m going out for a 2nd date tomorrow – my date is coming from 3 hrs away – so we want to spend as much time together. We’re going to watch “The Dark Knight”, dinner then wine tasting/going to a lounge. I want to wear this summer-like evening dress since I don’t want to change, would that be appropriate? (not too dressy?) I think he’s prob. gonna dress semi-casual.

Thanks.

Have you ever tried Dandelion wine?

Question by Mountains & Mayhem: Have you ever tried Dandelion wine?
I found a tutorial on the internet, and it seems pretty simple.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=339539.0

I just want to hear some people’s opinions/advice.
For example:
Was it hard to make? What was the hardest part? Funnest part? Any equipment advice or secret ingredients? Tips or tricks?
What does it taste like? Is it worth the effort? Does it taste the same when made in a small batch as a large batch?

Obviously I’m not expecting anyone to answer every question, but just looking into any insights/advice I can get before I start this project! Thanks for any answers, I’m looking forward to making a batch this spring when the dandelions are blooming!

I used to make a lot of wine from free ingredients growing in the country in season… Try picking your dandelion flowering heads, takes ages, but when you have a couple of bags full you are ready to go. Wash them and immerse them in warm water and leave to marinade for a day, then proceed to mash them down, strain the juice and proceed like any other homemade wine with your favourite fermentation method. Let it all bubble away til it stops, bottle, cork, leave again until clear then drink! Its nice and refreshing cold on a summer evening.
