A question asked by jamie17347: I had an idea for my friends bachlorette party to do wine tasting around central New york?
I’d like to stay some what close to home so it would be oswego/ onodaga county but, I can’t find any information on wine tours/tasting. Any ideas? I’ve never even been on a wine tour.

Call Moet and Hennessey 212-251-8200 and ask the reseptionist to speak with somone in the wines department. Trust me if you want good quality wine that the way to go. ( ask for Tracey in wines)

Question posed by Jill L: could I use stew meat for beef tips if I slow cooked them all day?
I would use onion, beef broth and red wine slow cook for eight hours what do you think?? making for 30 so need to go cheap but want a good taste??
I am doing this as a catered event so they are having a veggie and a potato as wellas a salad and another entree so I don’t want to add to many veggies into the mix.

YES you can use stew meat!!! You can even use boneless ribs diced up too.

Question posed by kathy: Would you move from the Bay Area to Portland again?
We live in San Jose and am contemplating a move up to the Portland area. We are looking for local input on weather, traffic, schools, or any other tips about the area. We visited last weekend and the weather was beautiful. Heard from some that the weather was normal and others that it is normally rainy at this time. We like to mountain bike, snowboard, go to the ocean, wine taste – so there seems to be a fit.

You are right, Kathy, it is a fit. Portland is a great city. I have never lived there, but I have been there many times, mostly for concerts. It rains a lot, though.

Money is no prblem??? Go to Bordeaux. there’s several different types of wine that come from that area.

A question from Jam: Any advice on a good wine tasting tour in Napa valley or wine country?
I would like to take my mother (she is visiting) on a wine tasting tour. There are sooo many sites on the internet. I am becoming a little overwhelmed. Anyone know what the best one would be if we would like to sight see but also spend time tasting at various wineries? Maybe a tour is not what I am looking for? Any advice! I would like it to be special for her. Would love to hear any ones personal experience and recommendation… Thanks

I’m not a huge fan of the really big wineries so I tend to stick to Paso Robles. Some of my favorite wines come from the little boutique wineries there!
I love to just drive around taking in the beauty of the vineyards (especially with a loved one) stopping at any little winery that tickles my fancy! Try Villicana! They have a great Cab Sav.
I think a tour is a little impersonal but that’s just me.

A question asked by TomW: Can you get drunk tasting and spitting wine?
If you go to a wine tasting and spit out everything you try, about how much alcohol ends up being absorbed? I assume not that much, but if I swish around 100 different one-ounce pours, should I expect my blood alcohol level to be high?
One of the reasons I mentioned a figure like 100 wines was because I just took a Q&A session with a wine judge, and he was talking about drinking hundreds of wines over a couple days. I don’t think my palette would ever be able to enjoy that much.

Just say you have a love for fine wines and food and are interested in exploring new labels and varietels that you have not tried yet. Explain how you would like to meet others that share your love of wines and you would look forward to attending social events that present this opportunity.
If they are looking for participation with the running of these events, you might point out that you would be excited to help as needed with society run events and activities.

Question by adenosinetrip3: I’m celebrating my 30th birthday soon. Any tips/suggestions on how I could celebrate it?
I have about a month left to plan the party. I’ve already heard of wine tasting and going to Vegas… I am thinking about a themed party, but not sure what… I was thinking a Chinese theme. I don’t know what to do to make it fun for my guests. Not sure if I want it large and invite all the people who have entered my life up til now or keep it really small and intimate. I am leaning towards big! I’m not married yet and this could be my only big party if I never do get married…

My friend celebrated her 30th birthday by giving a party to orphans and homeless children. it was her way of giving thanks for all her blessings and to share to those who are less fortunate.
