Hi! My parents just spent a lot of money on a home wine-making kit. It’s time to drink it finally, and this wine is GREAT! And we lived in Europe for 5 years so we are experienced wine drinkers. My dad has been told by several other wine-makers that this is good enough to win in contests. I’m wondering how I would find out about wine competitions in the state of Iowa. I’m starting to go out on dinner dates and I’ve been taking girls to nice restaurants.When I go I usually order a beer or a 7 & 7. But when I look around the restaurants, I see men having a glass of wine with their dinners. What is a good wine for a man to drink with his dinner, I always thought wine was for women. And I like steaks, so is there even a wine to drink with while eating a steak?
And I have tastes wines in the past, but I do not like dry wines, which I have heard are mostly reds. So what would be a good white wine to drink? Thanks

Starting with the sugar, why is that we can make a beer or wine. What is the yeast doing with the sugars? What is gained? What is lost?

So far I have the sugar interacts with yeast and creates carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol but other than that I am struggling.

My friend and I were looking around, and we found posted to his fridge an invitation to a wine tasting titled “Naked Wine Tasting” for his parents. We were in an argument weather it was a marketing gimik, or a nude wine testing party. We went to their website, but that didn’t answer many questions. For every point for me, there was one for him. We’re wondering, if anyone actually knows?

Every year I go to a couple of wine tasting parties and this time the theme is Spanish/Portuguese. It will be around 15 people and everyone brings enough wine for tasting with their course. There will be plenty of Sangria so that’s out.

Any suggestions for this culinary group that would really be a hit for hor d’ ouvres? I know writing down recipes is a pain but if you have any suggestions I’d really appreciate it. THX.
