Is it possible to over aerate a young red wine?

Monday, January 26th, 2009
John Munaik asked:

Would leaving a young red wine (fifteen years old max) in a stoppered decanter for a week or more cause any degradation of the wine’s taste?

I’ve heard that sometimes wines loose their flavors if they’re over aerated, but I get the sense that this only happens to older wines.

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Do you get any vitamins from drinking red wine?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
IamBatman asked:

I know that there are health benefits to drinking red wine in moderation, such as it contains anti-oxidants and can help lower blood pressure, but can you get any vitamins from drinking red wine, or does the process of it being made into alcohols strip it of it’s nutrients?

What kind of wine should I get to go with the mulling spice mix I’m giving my best friend for Christmas?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
angel s asked:

I’m trying to finish up the holiday shopping and I’ve hit a bit of a road block. I got my best friend and her husband a tin of Williams-Sonoma mulling spices. I know it makes great mulled wine (one of my professors hosted a gathering for one of my classes where it was served- yes, everyone there was at least 21, and no one drank much anyway) but other than “cheap red wine” I’ve got no idea what kind works best. I honestly know nothing about wine, so cheap and red doesn’t help me much. So, to get to the point of this ramble, what kind of cheap, red wine works best for mulled wine? Thanks to anyone who can help me with this!
